Inspiration, practical tips and workshops, a delicious light lunch, as well and tea and coffee, are all included!

To register for this forum please email: info@yacvic.org.au giving the title of the forum and we will send you a registration form. The cost of the forum will be a bargain $45 with a discounted price of $20 for young people who attend who are not a `worker’ in a youth organisation. Places are limited due to space, so please book in quickly.

The forum will include speakers from a wide range of youth participation experience:  nongovernmental organisations, government orgs, local council perspectives etc and will also include a number of practical workshops and facilitated discussions to enable us to better include a wide variety of young people in the work we do. It will include a focus on promoting beyond `the usual suspects’ and group management skills to help retain and support young people when they get there!

YOUTH PARTICIPATION FORUM
You are invited to join us for ‘Language, Labels and Youth Participation,’ a forum, hosted by the Victorian Youth Participation
Network on Wednesday 4th March, from 9am to 12noon looking at the role of language and labels in promoting (or discouraging) young people’s participation in organisational, government, democratic and community decision making.

The Victorian Youth Participation Network is a community of practice which provides an opportunity for members to:

1. Reflect on the nature of youth participation and to look at the structures that restrict or enable youth participation.
2. Critically reflect on their practice in a safe and supportive space, sharing their successes, challenges and learnings
3. Collaborate to support young people’s participation in community, organisational and government decision making
4. Explore new and emerging concepts in the area of youth participation

Places are limited and workers are encouraged to support young people to attend. Information on how to RSVP by 2nd March 2009 can be accessed via the links below
