“Leadership to me is a commitment to serving those who follow me. It is about understanding their needs and providing the means to achieve these desires. It is about being there when they need me most and showing a path that will be to the benefit of them all.
A leader should not be self-centred and should always look to the best interests of the people. One must have a vision and stick to it without being side tracked with one’s ego. A leader must be a role model for others that will come to follow and have a commitment to contributing to the beauties of the world.
This is the type of leadership I desire and that I strive to become.
A best example of my leadership is the time when I was appointed as the president of the Kurdish Women’s League of Australia for one year where the aim was to help Kurdish women better integrate into the Australian way of life. This is where I endeavoured to use my vision of a leadership outlined above.”
